WindSoHy is developing a wind power and Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) project on approximately 30,000 acres in the Kingman County area, located in south central Kansas. The geography includes high-quality, Class 4+ winds that are favorable for the construction of a 300-600 MW wind-farm facility.  

Other project characteristics include:

  • Potential for 200 MW CAES plant
  • Anticipated 400 MW wind project comprised of 200 2-MW turbines
  • Lease negotiations near completion for approximately 30,000 acres
  • Project completion approximately 2014
  • Power Purchase Agreements to be negotiated during pre-production
  • Project location near a 345 kilovolt line

 Regulatory Status  

The project is planned for a mostly unzoned location and has support of residents and local governmental authorities. Permitting process will begin during project development.

 Legal Structure  

WindSoHy will organize the project as a limited liability corporation with WindSoHy as the 100% managing member.
