WindSoHy's talented management team is comprised of experienced, forward-thinking business and energy industry professionals committed to WindSoHy's vision and goals.

spease2x2.jpgJoe Spease, President and CEO, is a high-performance executive whose leadership in the field of renewable energy has taken many forms. He has published articles on wind, Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES), hydrogen, and solar power, and provided frequent expert testimony on various energy-related issues before legislative committees and as a guest speaker at energy forums and conferences.

Mr. Spease is experienced in wind, solar, and biomass development, and is a strong proponent of CAES technology for the many advantages it brings. He served for three years as President of Pristine Power, developing and consulting on wind, solar, and hydrogen projects for clients including leading telecommunications companies, refineries and fertilizer manufacturers, newspaper companies, and school districts. His background includes creating new, million-dollar marketing businesses with GE, Kodak, Imperial Chemical Industries, and Schwinn bicycles for media giant Lee Enterprises.

As a dedicated environmentalist, Mr. Spease serves on the Executive Committee of the Sierra Club. He also serves on the Kansas City Coda Jazz Committee; the Kansas International Film Festival committee; and actively supports public education. Mr. Spease has a BA in Media from Colorado State University.


phil2x2.jpgPhil Duran, Vice President of Energy Project Development, is a top-level, energy-industry executive with 20 years of experience as a power engineer, including 17 years of hands-on project management responsibility for some of the largest energy companies in the world such as Exxon, Koch Industries, Burns & McDonnell, Aquila, and Prevailing Wind Development.

Mr. Duran has considerable expertise in wind project development including siting and feasibility studies. His leadership,  project management skills and wide-ranging experience have prepared him to manage WindSoHy's projects working closely with it's engineering and construction partners. Mr. Duran has worked in energy commodities. He holds degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration from the University of Kansas.


James T. Clark, Finance and Accounting Consultant, has over 30 years of senior-level experience as a Vice President or higher in accounting and finance with some of the largest companies in the country. Mr. Clark is very experienced in the energy sector, having spent many years in senior roles with large energy companies such as Kansas Gas Service, Western Resources, and Westar. Mr. Clark's expertise in finance, accounting, auditing, and information systems was developed across decades of challenging assignments, and these skills provide a strong foundation for WindSoH’s financial management. In addition, his relationships with decision makers at important natural gas companies will be helpful to WindSoHy as it pursues the CAES and hydrogen projects now in development.
